ACCESS ADVENTURE AMBASSADOR

Vera Aitemon

I was born in San Francisco and have been a Sonoma County resident for ten years, currently residing in Vallejo, CA. I’m a student at Solano Community College majoring in music and Spanish. I also have a working knowledge of Tagalog which is a language I’m fond of. I met Michael Muir when he came to one of my classes and invited me and others to participate in the Access Adventure project he was launching. Before that time I hadn’t been near a horse, and the rides I experienced in my wheelchair aboard the horsedrawn carriages was absolutely amazing. With Michael’s guidance and the instruction I’ve also learned the language of horses and how to handle the reins when riding.

I always laugh when I think of the time I had to explain to my grandfather that when I was thanking Andy I was thanking a horse, not a person. I’ll always have fond memories of Andy. He was my first ride, a lot of fun, and a comfort.

As a volunteer I look forward to attending all Access Adventure events not only to enjoy them, but to encourage others, with or without a disability, to ride the carriages and enjoy the fresh air and beauty of Rush Ranch and the other trails we travel. My goal is to help spread the word about an organization and an experience that has been life changing and wonderful. Thanks Andy!
