ACCESS ADVENTURE VOLUNTEER
Dave Hanson
I grew up in Texas on a large cattle ranch. I've been around horses litrerally my whole life.
How I got involved with Access Adventure was kind of a fluke as I was out at the ranch checking on a carpentry job when I met Dennis, and then saw the trailer.
He talks a little about the program, gives me a card , and the next thing you know here I am a part of this really great organization.
The best part of this program is that 1: I get to be around horses. 2: I get to be out in the country which is very calming for me. 3: I have a REALLY big heart and I am able to bring joy to those who are mobility impaired and either don't have the opportunity to get out in the country, or are limited by their mode of transportation.
I myself was laid up for awhile due to a bad accident and was in a wheel chair for about two months. Talk about an eye opener. To be able to experience what people who are wheel chair bound was a definite life changing moment.
The volunteers, the horses, the smiles that this program brings to people with disabilities, all I can say is what an honor it is for me to be a part of it all.
