ACCESS ADVENTURE VOLUNTEER
Kimberly Rich
I was born in Oakland, CA and lived in Pleasant Hill, Concord, and San Jose, CA before moving to Fairfield in
1973. Growing up my sister Kathy and I loved horses and used to buy Western Horsemen Magazine and dream of owning our own
horses someday. That dream became a reality for 2 years when we lived in San Jose and owned one horse (for my mother) and four
ponies (one for each of us children) but ended all too soon at the break up of our family.
Ever since, I dreamed of one day riding and being close to horses again. That dream became a reality when I
attended the Rush Ranch open house and discovered Access Adventure.
Access Adventure has not only been the fulfillment of my dream to work with horses again, it has been the
fulfillment of a wish for my family to experience the great outdoors, nature and horses in ways we never dreamed.
I am the homeschooling mother of three children, two boys and a daughter, Katy, who was born with Spina Bifida
and is confined to a wheelchair. Outdoor escapes that most families take for granted such as hiking, beaches and biking have
been activities we have learned to live without. Access Adventure has changed all of that and blessed us memorable encounters
with mountains, woods and those beautiful horses that work so hard to bring joy to all who participate in the scenic carriage.
Learning to care for and drive the horses has been a great source of fun and excitement for our family, especially Katy, who
has long harbored a great love for horses and longed for an opportunity to experience them more intimately.
It is a privilege to be a part of Access Adventure and I am humbled and honored to be a part of an organization
that brings such joy to the lives of others.
I am so thankful to Michael Muir for making Access Adventure a reality and I look so forward to the many adventures
to come! Return to People
