ACCESS ADVENTURE VOLUNTEER

Katy Sconza

I am 18 years old and a Senior at Armijo High. I have Spina Bifida and have been wheelchair bound since I was about 11 years old. When my mom told me about Access Adventure I was very excited to try it out. I love horses and lots of other animals. I have had 14 surgeries and have spent a lot of time in bed and in the house. A few times I had to stay in bed for 4 weeks at a time. Being around the horses lifts my spirits. I especially love one of the horses at Rush Ranch whose name is Fanny. I love her and when I am with her I am so happy. I think that Fanny likes me too. I am learning how to groom her and soon will be able to help train her. I am also learning to drive the horses from the carriage and give voice commands. It is so much fun! Mr. Muir has been a great teacher and is so patient when teaching me.

I love Access Adventure and am looking forward to each time I can ride in the carriage, go on trips and spend quality time with the horses!
