ACCESS ADVENTURE VOLUNTEER

Torsten Jacobsen M.D.

At the Xenophon family picnic about a year ago, Michael and his crew of volunteers, the carriage and Reba and Ruby came to drive the families at the San Pablo reservoir in Orinda. Tineke described the program to me and it had a natural attraction based on my background which includes the following: raised in Denmark where as a young boy I was surrounded on a daily basis by draft horses at work, frequently going with my veterinarian grandfather to the farms, attending vet school at Davis followed by med school and 30 years as an orthopedic surgeon treating not just the traumatized but also the disabled, particularly children both here and abroad. Torsten driving Access Adventure's team of horses.Retirement afforded me more time and the activities at Rush Ranch seemed an amalgamation of my interests, giving me yet another forum to continue serving mankind, working with others of like mind, being physically active outdoors and nurturing knowledge and new experiences and abilities with our large equine friends while hopefully helping our fine "director" Michael attain such admirable goals.
