ACCESS ADVENTURE VOLUNTEER

Ross Wickham

Ross WickhamWhen I first joined Access Adventure I didn’t really have an idea of what to expect. For most of my volunteer work all I had done was help take care of horses and was told that the horses were used for pulling carriages that were designed especially for people who are handicapped. Handling horses was an altogether new and interesting experience for me that I enjoyed. I learned many things from my volunteer work. But nothing prepared me for the actual reward and goal of this program, helping people with disabilities. I knew exactly what we were going to do, but the experience of seeing the joy and happiness that this program gives to people is something that I was not prepared for. It made all the work and effort and time that all of the volunteers put into Access Adventure well worth it. Ross Wickham and Fanny at Rush Ranch When my first event started I was amazed by the absolute pleasure that the horses and the carriage and the whole atmosphere had given to these people. Access Adventure as a whole is a new way of interacting with people because basically everything that you do as a volunteer will ultimately help others. Access Adventure is a wonderful experience that I enjoy and will continue with for as long as I can.
